SUMMARY:Part 2: Three Areas of Consideration for Engaging with Native Nations around MDTs and CACs
DESCRIPTION:Working in Indian Country requires individuals and organizations to think about how to engage respectfully and effectively with sovereign nations. We’ve identified three broad categories which are important to consider when partnering or developing CAC/MDTs: \n\nSovereignty. Which includes: Law\, Policy\, Governance and Jurisdiction.\nInstitutions. Which includes: Structures\, Systems\, Positions\, and Processes.\nCulture. Which includes: Values\, Ways of Knowing and Doing.\n\nAbout the trainer: \nDeanna Chancellor\, MPA (Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma) joined NNCTC in 2023 after serving 18 years as the Director of the Leflore County\, Oklahoma\, Child Advocacy Center and Women’s Crisis Services. She has extensive experience providing training and technical assistance related to all aspects of child advocacy centers including development\, accreditation\, cultural adaptations\, and secondary trauma.
