SUMMARY:The Big Disconnect: Prosecutor and Forensic Interviewer Collaboration
DESCRIPTION:Forensic Interviewers are often utilized as fact witnesses to testify in court when they have conducted an interview in the matter at hand. Forensic Interviewers across the country have also been retained as expert witness to discuss dynamics\, behaviors\, and traits that are common in cases of child maltreatment per their training and experience. This session will discuss the breadth of knowledge and expertise that trained and practicing forensic interviewers possess that may qualify them to provide expert witness testimony in a court of law\, as well as the potential overlap of fact and expert witness testimony. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nUnderstand case law applicable to forensic interviewers testifying as an expert.\nPrepare both prosecutors and interviewers to utilize interviewer’s vast expertise to educate juries on topics such as interview methodologies\, dynamics of child sexual abuse\, development\, question formation\, and more.\nConsider the overlap of fact/lay and expert witness testimony in applicable cases.\n\nThis training is presented by Zero Abuse Project. Click HERE to register. \nQuestions? DESCRIPTION:Forensic Interviewer Training Webinar: A Two-Part Virtual CLE via Zoom \nThis two-part training will highlight key strategies Prosecuting Attorneys and Forensic Interviewers can use to maximize the forensic interview at trial. \nSession two will provide insights into what and when to anticipate a defense expert\, the topics they frequently cover\, and tips for utilizing your forensic interviewer as a rebuttal witness. \nPresenters: \nHaley Sebens\, Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney – Skagit County\, WA \nCourtney Long\, Child Forensic Interviewer – Skagit County\, WA \nCo-Sponsored by Children’s Advocacy Centers of Washington and The Washington Association of Prosecuting Attorneys \nCLE-WSBA Activity ID pending (0 Law & Legal Procedure\, 0 Ethics\, 0 Other) \nRead carefully: to obtain CLEs you will be required to complete a Post Training Attendance Form.  The link to the form will be emailed to you following the training.  The form will expire Sunday\, July 31\, 2022\, so all form submissions must be received prior to this date.  If the form is not received\, CLEs will not be submitted on your behalf. \nThis training is set up through Talent LMS.  You must register through Talent to access this training.  Please follow these steps: \nStep 1: Go to https://cacwa.talentlms.com\, click Sign Up\, and fill out the form. \nStep 2: Once signed up\, select the Course Catalog \nStep 3: Click on the workshop you would like to attend and click Select Course \nStep 4: Click Start or Resume Course\, and then Register. There is a button on the bottom right that allows you to add the course to your calendar. You will get an email confirmation. All the live workshops will be presented using the Zoom platform. You will not receive a direct link to the workshop so you will have to log into Talent LMS the day of the training. \nStep 5: On the day of training\, access to the live workshop will be allowed 15 minutes prior to the start time.  Log into https://cacwa.talentlms.com and do one of the options below: \n\nOn the Home screen\, hover over the course picture and click on the “play button.” The next page will be a course session description.  Click on Join under the word Webinar.\nSelect Calendar and click on the training displayed on the calendar date.
