DESCRIPTION:This training introduces new MDT members to the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) model and the collaborative approach used to respond to child abuse cases across Washington State. Participants will learn about the history of the CAC movement and how national\, regional\, and state networks work together to support CACs\, children\, and families. The session will also highlight the services provided by the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Washington (CACWA)\, explain how the CAC model works\, and explore the benefits of a coordinated response. Attendees will review key Washington State RCWs related to child abuse investigations and MDTs\, become familiar with the core disciplines that make up the team\, and learn about the case referral and review processes. The training will also discuss the elements of a successful MDT and emphasize awareness of secondary stress—helping participants build a strong foundation for effective\, compassionate teamwork. \nClick HERE to register. \nQuestions? SUMMARY:The Big Disconnect: Prosecutor and Forensic Interviewer Collaboration
DESCRIPTION:Forensic Interviewers are often utilized as fact witnesses to testify in court when they have conducted an interview in the matter at hand. Forensic Interviewers across the country have also been retained as expert witness to discuss dynamics\, behaviors\, and traits that are common in cases of child maltreatment per their training and experience. This session will discuss the breadth of knowledge and expertise that trained and practicing forensic interviewers possess that may qualify them to provide expert witness testimony in a court of law\, as well as the potential overlap of fact and expert witness testimony. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nUnderstand case law applicable to forensic interviewers testifying as an expert.\nPrepare both prosecutors and interviewers to utilize interviewer’s vast expertise to educate juries on topics such as interview methodologies\, dynamics of child sexual abuse\, development\, question formation\, and more.\nConsider the overlap of fact/lay and expert witness testimony in applicable cases.\n\nThis training is presented by Zero Abuse Project. Click HERE to register. \nQuestions?
